Part of the activity instructions for the yacht project

 

The programme was designed to promote support for the GBR Challenge’s entry into the America’s Cup Race, and offered young people the chance to have a little fun after SATS and win a trip to New Zealand. They were invited to design the fastest model yacht in Britain using free activities provided for entrants.

The designs were evaluated by yacht design experts, with the winning team invited to a military testing base for further model testing.

This allowed entrants to:

· Apply their National Curriculum scientific knowledge to a practical problem.

· Have some fun with ICT and science to create the fastest boat design in Britain.

· Compare their ideas and designs with those from other schools.

· Use information from the website stage a mini-America’s Cup race in their school.
